Yanni, Greek’s sensational instrumental and contemporary music artist, is bringing his signature sounds to Coral Sky Amphitheatre!
Yiannis Chryssomallis was born in Kalamata in 1954 and is a composer, keyboardist, pianist, and music producer. He began his musical journey by playing the piano at age 6 and his parents encouraged his natural talent. He didn’t have any formal music training and developed a shorthand way of teaching himself music (instead of using the traditional musical notation). He’s had a stellar career with 14 studio albums, 7 live albums, and he made his breakthrough with his 1994 release, Live at the Acropolis. This was his first live album and had a full orchestra under the supervision of the Iranian conductor, Shahrdad Rohani. It was recorded at the Herodes Atticus Theatre in Greece and it hit #1 on Billboard's Top New Age Albums chart and #5 on the Billboard 200. The film version of the album spent 229 weeks on Billboard's Top Music Video charts and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Lighting Direction (Electronic) for a Drama Series, Variety Series, Miniseries or a Special.
